IHA to Offer Two Patient Safety Tools Programs
IHA will offer back-to-back programs showcasing tools and methods for patient safety improvement. The first all-day session, set for July 29, is an introductory “boot camp,” that will provide an overview of the many risk assessment tools adapted from the National Patient Safety Improvement Corps. The program includes tools for root cause analysis, health care failure mode and effect analysis, and error proofing. Register at www.regonline.com/iha2009fundamentaltools.
The second session, scheduled for July 30, is an advanced-level workshop and is the next module of the Just Culture Initiative. Participants will be introduced to an advanced technique used for risk assessment called the Socio-Technical Probabilistic Risk Assessment. The tools and methods discussed in this session will help deepen participant understanding of the Just Culture model and will help hospital leaders differentiate between risks associated with system design and those that are a result of behavioral choices.
