2024 Legislative Session
In collaboration with lawmakers, IHA advocated to build upon previous state efforts to grow the pipeline of Hoosier health care workers. Through the successful passage of SEA 132 and HEA 1259, more nurses can take advantage of increased flexibility in training and licensure, allowing them to enter the workforce more quickly.
Before the 2024 legislative session, Hoosier employers did not have access to important information about how their health care premiums are set by insurance companies. IHA played a leading role in advocating for more transparency, and as a result of HEA 1259, insurance companies are now required to give employers full access to their health care claims data.
This important legislation gives businesses the tools they need to ensure that savings from cost reduction strategies implemented by hospitals are being passed along to consumers – a crucial step toward making health care more affordable.
As a member of Governor Holcomb’s Public Health Commission, IHA played a vital role during the last budget session to pass the Health First Indiana initiative, which provides a $225 million public health investment in communities across the state between 2024 and 2025. IHA developed a hospital pledge to support this important initiative to improve the health of our citizens and the overall delivery of care throughout Indiana.
