Indiana Hospital Association Promotes Three Executives

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Indiana Hospital Association announced the promotions of three employees from its leadership staff. Brian Tabor, vice president of government relations, has been named executive vice president of the association. In addition, IHA’s director of member services, Cathy Armold, and director of communications, Jennifer Hurtubise, have been promoted to vice president.

“Brian, Cathy and Jennifer have been instrumental to IHA’s success working on behalf of Hoosier hospitals and patients, and ensuring our members realize the full value of our association’s advocacy efforts and educational benefits,” said Doug Leonard, president of the Indiana Hospital Association. “Their contributions and those of the teams they lead have made Indiana a leader amongst hospital associations across the nation, and I look forward to their continued leadership.”

Brian Tabor
As executive vice president of government relations at IHA, Brian Tabor oversees all state and federal legislative initiatives and health policy development for the association. Prior to joining IHA in 2008, Brian worked at the Indiana House of Representatives, where he served as the majority caucus policy director. He has worked for and around the Indiana General Assembly for 17 years, also serving as a fiscal analyst for the Indiana State Senate. He earned a bachelor's degree in political science and a master's degree in agricultural economics from Purdue University.

Earlier this year, Indiana Governor Mike Pence honored Tabor with the Sagamore of the Wabash award for his contributions to the HIP 2.0 effort that has brought about health coverage for thousands of uninsured Hoosiers.

Tabor is active with Government Affairs Society of Indiana where he has served on the board of governors since 2012 and is currently serving as vice president. In addition, he serves as a board member and co-chair of the hospital and health center committee for Covering Kids and Families of Indiana.

Cathy Armold
Cathy Armold has led member services of IHA for the past 10 years, working closely with the 164 health systems and hospitals that are members of the association. Her responsibilities as vice president are in the areas of education, the board of directors, IHA's corporate sponsors and overall member relations. Armold plans and directs all aspects of IHA's educational offerings and serves as the liaison to IHA's endorsed business partners, corporate partners and sponsors. Armold has been with the association for 40 years and has served in numerous positions with IHA, including in the areas of education, finance, public relations and the President's office.

In 2015, Armold was instrumental in leading IHA’s efforts to launch the association’s Endorsed Business Partner Program with 12 partners that currently provide cutting edge and cost-effective solutions for member hospitals. The program was created to help health care member facilities avoid costs, recover revenue, reduce operating and capital expenses, improve management and quality, increase productivity, develop staff resources and apply new strategies.

Armold currently serves on the executive education advisory committee for the IU School of Public and Environmental Affairs at IUPUI and volunteers with the Indiana Donor Network to connect donors with people waiting for organ transplants.

Jennifer Hurtubise
With more than 10 years of marketing and communications experience, including five years with IHA, as vice president, Jennifer Hurtubise manages member communications, strategic planning, media relations and digital communications.

She also provides communications council to the Indiana Patient Safety Center, and serves as a liaison to Indiana’s hospital marketing and public relations professionals and to the Indiana Hospital Auxiliaries Association. Hurtubise is a member of the Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development, Hoosier Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America and Indiana Society of Association Executives. She is an Indiana University graduate with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.

Recently, Hurtubise managed two advocacy campaigns, including the launch of a new hospital price and quality website for Indiana consumers, mycareINsight.org, and the association’s efforts that led to HIP 2.0.
Hurtubise is a long-time volunteer through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana and is currently working toward obtaining her master’s degree in public affairs with a focus in nonprofit management through the IU School of Public and Environmental Affairs at IUPUI.
