Indiana Hospitals Applaud Extension of Healthy Indiana Plan

The Indiana Hospital Association (IHA) applauds Governor Holcomb and his successful efforts to secure a ten-year extension of the Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP) program from the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Hospitals and caregivers are grateful for the unwavering commitment from Holcomb and FSSA Secretary Dr. Jennifer Sullivan to this innovative and affordable option for health care coverage. Having access to health care services has never been more important than it is today during the pandemic. Indiana's hospitals are proud to have stepped up to fund HIP, and next year alone their financial contribution is projected to exceed $300 million. HIP provides over 570,000 Hoosiers with comprehensive coverage—a number that is sure to grow as more of our friends and neighbors have recently become eligible for this vital safety net given the economic disruption of COVID. As always, Indiana's hospitals remain committed to caring for all Hoosiers around the clock every day during this health emergency and beyond.
